Life of the bose Viga

| Jul. 12th, 2007 10:31 am Hey everyone.
I haven't posted in a while so I figured I'd catch y'all up on things here.
I'm living by myself now in a basement apartment. It's my first time to live by myself, so it's a bit different, but I like it. I've had a mold problem in the bedroom though, and it's actually made me quite sick. This latest infection has been very rough and the medicine is possibly worse, but supposedly these side effects only last a few days. Either way, if you pray, I could use some prayers for my health.
School is going well. I took a 20th Century Music History class this summer and did very well and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I had passed the 20th Century section of my Entry Exams, but decided to take the class anyway since that aspect of Music History wasn't hit on very hard at USM...not while I was there anyway.
I've decided that if I do continue on and attempt a Doctorate, I'm likely going to try hard to get into IU and work towards a PH.D in Ethno, but with a secondary concentration in Linguistics.
I had all of my wisdom teeth taken out close to 3 weeks ago, and as a result haven't practiced in almost 4 weeks. I had no complications with the surgery though, which is quite relieving.
No girlfriend yet, but I'm sorta casually dating a girl at a nearby college. She's about to graduate with an undergrad in Music Ed., and wants to continue towards a Masters in Music Therapy, which is cool cause I've never really talked with anyone about that end of our field.
I saw the new Harry Potter movie last night and was somewhat disappointed. I may have just been expecting too much, but I think it will end up being one of those movies that is much better when it comes out on DVD, so they can add in all of the "missing" scenes. It'd make it almost twice as long, but it'd make more sense.
Anyways, that's all I can think of on this end. Hope you guys are doing well! Take care!

| Mar. 5th, 2007 10:26 pm The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more religious than atheist, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more idealist than cynical, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), religious (80%), artistic (72%), romantic (71%). | | | Stereotypes | | Old Geezer | 83% | | College Student | 63% | | Punk Rock | 60% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 21% | | Substances | 32% | | Travel | 35% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom you agree with around 61% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 88% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG. By the way, your hottness rank is 52%, hotter than 75% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite Leave a comment

| Feb. 16th, 2007 12:43 am Hey Ben..
If you read this..I'm just writing to say that I miss living with/hanging out with you. I live with three girls here and I would trade them all for one Ben. I hope you and your family are doing well. Take care man! Leave a comment

| Nov. 27th, 2006 03:00 am Well, it has been a while since I have said anything on here, so I figured I'd make a slight update. Not a whole lot is going on with my life. I just finished a paper on brass-making in Nuremberg. I make a trip to SC in December, before I leave to go home, for Museum business. I'll be checking out the brass collection there and picking up some trumpets for our collegium here. Also, while there I'll be meeting the curator of the collection there, who also writes the historical brass articles for the ITG journals, so that will be fun.
I'm looking forward to going home for the christmas break. It's good to travel and live other places because you can therefore have a better idea of what you like and what you don't like. Now that I've been here, I know that I don't like Midwesterners, for the most part.
It's been a very lonely semester, but I can't seem to get up enough energy to majorly complain about it. It's mostly been a reverse of how things were at the beginning. The things that were going horribly wrong when I got here are now going great, and the things that seemed great at first are now horrible.
I never thought I'd miss it, but I miss having that apartment with Ben. I miss having a place that friends could come to and feel free to hang out and unwind whenever they wanted. I miss having friends to do that with. In general I've been suprised to find what I miss and how much I miss it.
Well, enough about me, I hope everyone's doing ok and had a nice mini-break for Thanksgiving. Take Care! 4 comments - Leave a comment

| Jul. 30th, 2006 10:49 pm Livin' with the Yankees Thanks to the help of my brother, his wife, and his best friend, I have now moved myself and all of my stuff up to South Dakota. Both Google Earth and Yahoo Maps said that the drive would be about 14 hours (considering no stops), but they were both wrong. we left at 5am Saturday and didn't get there until 11pm that night. It felt like we were never going to get out of Missouri. It's a nice state, and parts of it are very pretty and scenic, but dang, it sucks to drive through it.
I'm living in the basement guest room of a 4 bdrm apartment. The guy who's living in what will be my room is moving out towards the end of the month. Obviously, I do have internet in my room...also got my tv/PS2 going too. Just trying to make it as comfortable as practicality can allow. No sense in moving everything in just to move it upstairs in less than a month.
School doesn't start until the 28th or so, but I'm going to start working tomorrow. For those of you who don't know, I'm going for a Masters in the History of Musical Instruments, so I'll be working with the National Music Museum at the University of South Dakota. I don't have to start tomorrow, but it will be good to go ahead and get used to everything before school starts and the craziness begins. Also, I'll be able to start earning money.
The people are pretty nice, but fairly diversed. Since there's a guy living in my room, there are actually 5 people living here. I'm from Mississippi, the two sisters are from Minnasota, one is from Nebraska, and the other is from New Hampshire.
Well, hope everyone has a great semester. Feel free to e-mail me if you get bored: SPMLBS37@aol.com Current Mood: tired

| May. 3rd, 2006 09:07 pm Hey everyone. I know that I don't update very often but two very big events have happened in the last two days. One's very sad and one's very happy..I guess I'll give the sad news first.
For those of you who have known me or my family anytime in the last 10 or 11 years knows that we have a big fat rottweiler named Mitzi. She died today around 5pm. I'll spare y'all the details of it unless you really want to know, if so just text, IM, call, etc. Suffice it to say that she was suffering, so we put her to sleep. I spent all day yesterday from 11:30am until 1am this morning building a coffin for her. And today I spent 4 hours digging her grave. I'm ok, more or less, but for those of you who really know my family, you can appreciate how much this is going to kill my mom and dad.
Now, for the good news. I finally found out last night that I was accepted to the University of South Dakota. So, pending that all goes well with the finish up stuff with USM, I'll be up there in the Fall working on a Masters in the History of Musical Instruments. Don't know where I'm going to live yet..haven't had time to figure it out. From what I've estimated, the stipend that they're giving me should cover everything with school, plus give me some spending money. Graduate Assistants there pay only one-third of the resident tuition (whether you're a resident or not), so that will help a lot. That's all for now..guess my next update will be in a few months, hehe. Current Mood: exhausted

| Dec. 29th, 2005 01:55 pm free garage sale At the apartment, I've compiled a box or so of stuff that either I don't want, Ben didn't want, or Eric didn't want. However, to my knowledge all of it is good, brand new, hardly used, still usable, etc. Also, there are a lot of things in the kitchen that apparently aren't mine, Ben's, or Eric's. Some seem to belong to Sam, Daniel, Katy, etc. So that being said, EVERYONE needs to drop by the apartment before I leave to either look in the kitchen and grab their stuff, or grab stuff that they would like from the "stuff" box.
P.S. Sam, when/if you come by to get your things, I would really appreciate it if you also brought along your vacume cleaner. Thanks! Current Mood: productive

| Dec. 19th, 2005 02:32 pm ..Money Matters.. Someone the other day asked me, and I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember exactly how they worded it, "Clint, if you had all the money you could ever need, would you still be the way you are?" What they were implying by "..the way you are?" was that I'm frugal, thrifty, prudent, cheap, penny-pinching, etc. And they are right.. I definitely am. At the time, I answered them by saying something to the fact of, "yeah, probably..the only difference then would be that I would be happy". For me, Happy = free of stress. In truth I couldn't really answer that question because I don't think I have ever been free of stressful financial situations. Since I was 13 or 14 I've always had a job...still have yet to feel very comfortable financially. This worries me becuase I'll definitely need money next semester but I wont be able to work at all because I'll be student-teaching. I've had to basically support myself through college so far because my family isn't much better off than I am. I've become very accustomed to only getting cards and hugs for christmas because we never have enough money to get each other anything. Eh..well..I'm not trying to throw a pity-party for myself. I'm ok with all of that, really, it's just that I'm getting sick of the stress that it puts on me. Current Mood: blah
